When you braid hair, do you braid hair under handed or over handed?

I usually get it overhanded. I do underhand on people that have really short hair or if they are going for the Pocahontas look.

I think it looks neater on me, when I braid underhandedly. I once heard, though I'm not sure if it's correct, that overhanded, it's called a plait, and under-handed, it's called a braid... or vice versa.

I had to stop and think about that one. I wear two braids and have been doing that so long that the action is second-nature. I braid overhand -- maybe I'll try it underhand and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for making me aware of something I never think about!
