How can I keep my Curly hair nice for the next day when I take a shower at night?

Please help :[

I have naturally curlly, frizzy, unmanageable hair. I take showers at night because i don't have enough time in the morning. When I wake up, my hair is so messed up!!!! I always have to wear a ponytail to school...ALWAYS! I've tried.... putting in a bun, braiding my hair, and just sleeping on it. But nothing works! [I don't want to blow dry or straighten my hair] So, how can I keep my curly hair nice for the next day if I shower at night?? Thank you A LOT for your help!!!

Hey there!

Firstly, try sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase. The smoothness of the fabric prevents the friction of a regular pillowcase on your hair, which is what makes your hair frizzier overnight.

Secondly, gels that dry with a harder, almost crunchy texture, tend to lose their holding power overnight if you roll around a lot in your sleep. Try using products with a more pliable, flexible hold like mousses and creams.

In the morning, while getting ready, flip your head upside down and spritz your curls with some water (or leave in conditioner - the extra moisture can't hurt!) and scrunch them a bit to reactivate the curl. If you still have some frizzies, use a frizz serum of cream (only a little bit) and smooth through your hair. (Focusing on the pieces around your face if you're short on time - these are the ones most people will see!)

Another trick you can try is "twisting" your curls while they are wet, and blow drying them that way. You can find tips for this on www.naturallycurly.com , but it helps the curls stay defined!

Hope I could help, best of luck!

when you get out of the shower and your hair is wet, scrunch it with gel, or if your hair is already curly then you dont need to scrunch, just put gel in it, then finish with lots of hairspray.

Have you tried putting it in the pineapple pony? Curly girls who shower at night often let their hair dry, then take a scrunchie (not an elastic, as that will crease the hair), flip their heads over, and put their hair up in a very high ponytail. Hence "pineapple" ponytail. Be sure to keep the scrunchie loose so it doesn't crease your hair. That's what works for me anyway... I often dry my hair once I get out of the shower, but I don't see the difference between air drying or blow drying... see if it works for you!

Wear a shower cap when you shower, then a hair net while you are sleeping. Brush, comb, or use a pick in the morning. You can still buy hair nets at places like Walgreens.

I, too, have crazy curly hair. I take a spray bottle of water and spritz my hair, comb through with fingers, add mousse, gel, or hairspray. The trick is to add enough water to your hair to tame it, but not enough to make it completely wet. Believe me, I've been doing this for years and it works.

I have naturallly curly hair too!!!! wat i do is i put a curl enhancing cream in and frizz serum after towel drying my hair. then i split it into two ponytails and braid them (like pippy longstocking : ]) i sleep on it and undo the braids in the morning and redo the process adding curling mousse and hairspray. (i found a really good curling mousse from V05). and voila! You got that nice curly hair! gOOD LUCK!

My curly gf used to spray her hair with water in the morning to make it damp (but not wet) before applying mouse (or whatever cream for curly hair). She never combed it, even after showering at night, because combing curly hair makes it frizzy apparently. She scrunched/tousled her hair with her fingers instead (and avoided wind until the hair was dry! lol).
