Because you are flat-ironing your hair, be sure to wash your hair once a week, Relaxed and Naturals is a great way to go--but Tressemme Dry and Damaged is just as good, but you get more product for your money. Many people of color will try to tell you to not wash your hair this often, because our hair needs its natural moisture. This is true, but when you flat-iron hair with product buildup, you are 'baking" those chemicals right into your hair follicles, which damages them and causes split ends and frizziness. Another thing to consider: If you can, let your hair air dry--blow drying AND flat ironing will destroy your hair. Once your hair has dried, use a good quality moisturizer like Dark and Lovely Honey Kissed Hair Dresser. It is heavy enough to hold down your hair, but light enough not to feel too oily. Make sure you are wrapping your hair at night time: this means wrapping a silk scarf around your hair like a bandanna while you sleep, so when you wake up, your hair is soft and in place. Try not to use the highest setting of heat on your hair, try not to flat-iron everyday, and wear your hair natural and curly as often as possible, and you don't need a perm for your hair to look cute.

If you want to keep your hair in good condition, keep it natural. Don't put chemicals to straighten it and try to not use the flat iron to much. Those things really damage your hair.

Hi, taking good care of your hair need not be an expensive affair. I used to have dry frizzy hair and have been using L'oreal's shampoo and conditioner for dry frizzy hair on a daily basis ($8-9 for each bottle). Also you might want to consider investing in a hair mask to be used once a week to help strengthen your hair. I am currently using L'oreal's hair spa hair mask (serie expert range) on a weekly basis in a turquoise tub. You can buy it from a beauty shop at Bt Panjang plaza for $15.90 and it will last you for a few months. Just apply to shampooed hair and wrap in a hot towel for 15 minutes and rinse off.

My suggestions for taking good care of your hair:

1. Use a gentle shampoo that doesn't strip your hair of its natural oils.

2. Try not to wash it every day, if you can. This will keep your hair from drying out.

3. Try to avoid using the hair dryer often. If you must, use it at a cool setting, or at a distance from your hair if on a warm or hot setting.

4. Avoid using a lot of product such as gels and sprays that coat your hair and cause build-up.

5. Trim you hair at least once a month about 1/2 to 1 inch to promote growth.

6. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week that states on the bottle that it cleanses you hair of the build -up you get from various products.

7. Alternate brands of shampoo. You will notice a difference in your hair's body.

8. Use a wide comb in the shower to get out your tangles. Be gentle not to increase breakage of strands.

9. Use a good hairbrush that doesn't break the ends of your hair.

10. Avoid coloring your hair till you get really old and gray...it will dry out your hair, and once you start coloring your hair, it becomes an endless process! (I am 54 with a few gray hairs, and I refuse to color my hair...not yet anyway!)

11. Pantene and Garnier hair products are supposed to be good, and not overly expensive.

12. Watch that when you are out in the sun, you don't get your hair naturally bleached. That's not good for your hair either.

13. Don't follow fads...do what works for you. It's your hair, and you want to keep it healthy as long as you can!

I hope I have helped you! Good luck!

if you want healthy hair, try not to use the curling iron, the straightener %26amp; the blowdier too much. heat makes your hair dry, obviously, and thats truly the worst thing you can do to your hair. get a good moisturizing shampoo and try to only use the blowdrier when it's NESESSARY or you're in a rush. if you don't like your natural hair, just find a good way to keep it natural but change the style. (maybe straightening jells or other stuff)

Get yourself a good pair of ceramic flat irons..they usually cost anywhere from $30 to $100 dollars. If you just think that you really need a perm then get a mild perm and only perm your hair every 4-6 months. But if you own a very good pair of flat irons then there is no need for a perm...the irons can silk your hair out much better. Get your ends trimmed every 1-2 months and stay away from heat as much as possible. Only flat iron your hair once a week and never use the highest settings on your irons when doing so.

You should also start wrapping your hair up every night using a silk scarf to keep it in place. Wrapping your hair up is good because it helps to keep your hair straight and it keeps your hair from getting split ends. Avoid using scrunchies and rubber bands..they only break your hair off, use a handband instead if your trying to keep your hair out your face . Pantene Shampoos and conditioners are very good. When conditioning always use a plastic cap and let it sit in your hair for a few minutes. Get yourself the spray on leave in conditioner also by pantene.

I use hairart flat irons once a week and I have been without a perm for 8 months now. They cost me $100 but they are worth every penny.

Good luck!
