You should braid your hair for 1-2 weeks out of the month. Even if you just braid it before bed and take it out in the morning that would work also. You should also get your ends trimmed an inch or two every 3-4 months. Don't wash your hair everyday and dont condition everyday. However, you do need to condition when you shampoo. I suggest shampooing and conditioning every other say. Once a month you should go into a salon and get an intensive conditioning treatment. You can also try the at home kind or a hot oil treatment. I DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR HAIR BRAID BECAUSE YOUR HAIR WILL GROW AT ITS OWN RATE NOT WHEN YOU WANT IT TO GROW. THE HAIR GOES THROUGH A PHASE WHERE IT MAY GROW FOR A 7 YEARS THEN STOP AND WONT GROW FOR ANOTHER 7- 15 YEARS. YOU CAN BRAID YOUR HAIR BUT DON'T KEEP IT CONTINUOUSLY BRAID BECAUSE THE HAIR NEEDS TO BREATHE
