Your hair is going to need to be at least 2 inches for the braids to stay and look nice. Also most braiders (myself included) prefer braiding hair if it's still kinky, it is so much easier than braiding straight hair. Talk to your stylist first, they might advise you to keep your hair natural as opposed to getting it straightened first.
